The legal cannabis industry is exploding with nearly 60% of Americans now living where they can legally obtain marijuana in some way. Financial analysts believe that cannabis will be a multi-billion dollar industry in a few short years, potentially creating hundreds of thousands of jobs. In Colorado, where both recreational and medical cannabis are legal, there are already nearly 3,000 licensed businesses related to the growing, processing, and selling of the plant.

As with any booming business, tools to make the daily management of everything from accounting to advertising are needed. The fact that cannabis remains illegal on the federal level means that entrepreneurs in the canna-biz must extremely organized in order to remain within the eyes of their individual state’s laws. Section 280E of the tax code forbids many common deductions that a marijuana business may have, meaning expenses must be tracked diligently. Additionally, the growing of cannabis can be hard work; breeding, flowering time, and nutrients must all be individually tracked.

Fortunately, there are many cannabis apps popping up designed to make running a canna-business a tad bit easier. Read on for our curated list of must-have mobile apps for cannabis professionals.

GrowBuddy

Anyone who has ever cultivated cannabis knows that it takes a lot of meticulous planning, attention, and effort. GrowBuddy is a  powerful mobile app tracks the development of each plant in your operation, whether there are two or 2,000. This cannabis app shows harvest comparisons, nutrient schedules, cloning records, and more – it’s definitely a must for any grower.

MassRoots

MassRoots has a dizzying array of information, and with its huge fan base, covers literally every facet of the cannabis world. Mint

While not technically a cannabis app, mMint is still extremely useful to anyone in the marijuana business. A financial tracker, budgeting tool, and bill management tool all rolled into one, Mint is one of the most-used mobile apps in the country. It’s user-friendly and seamless, making it the perfect cannabis app for business owners to help maintain financial records across the board – think tracking cost of goods sold for IRS 280E or even salary costs.

Green Bits

Often referred to as the “most trusted POS for marijuana retailers,” Green Bits offers a seamless, painless, and smart way to make and track sales. The point of sale app utilizes cloud technology that integrates with back end software, making it easy to scan products, take payments, and monitor inventory. Green Bits was the first to integrate with both WeedMaps and Leafly, two other goliaths of the cannabis app world.

Duby

This social media app bills itself as “your new smoke spot.” Duby brings together cannabis fans from across the world, allowing folks to share photos, instant message other users, and post pot-related articles or stories. Business owners in the cannabis industry can utilize Duby for advertising or marketing research, while also building an online presence that could lead to increased brand awareness. Think of it as Instagram meets Tindr meets Reddit.

MyDx

MyDx is a portable, hand-held analyzer and sensor that can test the organic properties of food, water, air, and cannabis. This helps people understand the chemical and molecular makeup of their marijuana and how it affects their individual bodies. The mission of MyDx is to “empower you to live a healthier life by revealing the purity of what you eat, drink & inhale in the palm of your hands and in real time.” View our exclusive interview with MyDx CEO Daniel Yazbeck here.
