We have been in business for four years. We offer an extensive suite of services nationwide to include: basic payroll and HR services that include direct deposit, paper checks, or pay cards for staff and state and federal tax calculations, reporting and filing. RG:  What sets you apart from competitors in this space?

DC:  Our biggest competitors would be, say, ADP or Heartland Payroll, but they are non-cannabis friendly, so we are one the first and original in this space that provides the complete benefit package.

RG:  What are the benefits of canna-businesses working with Ms. Mary’s Staffing?

DC:  The amazing growth of the marijuana industry keeps surprising us all. It’s beyond our expectations, and it may keep surprising us. That’s a good thing, but it also means that you can find yourself short-staffed and need qualified, trustworthy people on short notice. When you use a PEO, the employment liability shifts from the client to to the PEO as we manage the risk and compliance. With a PEO we let our clients focus on their business, we take care the employment and HR.

RG:  How else is Ms. Mary’s Staffing helping to build the cannabis industry?

DC:   Our CEO, Stephen Sullivan, is a complete supporter in the industry and encourages us all to get get involved in areas of the cannabis industry that makes the best use of our talent and skills. This last May, both Stephen and I accompanied the National Cannabis Industry Association (NCIA) during lobby days as he is learning how to advocate for the industry both locally and federally. I was selected to sit on the NCIA Legal and Banking committee and hope to be elected vice chair in August. Stephen has requested to sit on the NCIA Human Resources Committee – we hope to hear back soon!

RG:  What are your hopes and goals for the future?

DC:  Ms. Mary’s Staffing/Hybrid Payroll’s goal is to be active in every state where cannabis is legal. We move into each state building relationships with financial institutions for banking relationships. We hope to be recognized as the original and largest one-stop-shop PEO provider in every state to openly serve the cannabis industry.
